Why I built this, and what’s next

Why I built this

My friend Ben has AI agents for everything. Calendar, email, files, notes. They know his whole life. And then his birthday came around and not one of them said happy birthday. Not one.

That stuck with me. We have bots that can book a flight and summarize a 40 page PDF, but the one thing a good friend does without thinking, remembering your day, fell through the cracks. Get the picture?

So I built the boring, useful version first:

It’s free, it’s private by default, and it’s open source. If you’d rather run it yourself, you can thank me later.

John, add a short personal story here (a birthday you missed, or one somebody remembered). Don’t ship without replacing this.

My AI agents know everything about me. My calendar, my email, my files. Not one of them ever wished me a happy birthday.

Now

Live today.

NowYour birthday page and link

One link with your birthday, wishlist and greetings. Share it by text or QR.

NowReminders that respect your inbox

A heads-up a week out, the day before and the day of. One email, not five.

NowGreetings you approve

Friends leave a wish on your page. Nothing shows until you say so.

NowWishlists without duplicates

Friends claim a gift quietly, so two people don’t buy the same thing.

NowYour AI agent, connected

MCP, API and webhooks. Your agent can see who’s coming up and draft the note.

NowOpen source and self-host

Run it yourself, and still connect with friends on birthdaycalendar.si.

Next

Being built now.

NextParty and RSVP page

Turn your birthday page into an invite. Guests RSVP, you get a headcount.

NextSlack and Teams for teams

A quiet note in the team channel when it’s someone’s day.

NextBrand treats beta

Real birthday treats from local shops and brands you opt into.

NextGoogle Contacts import

Bring the birthdays you already have in one step.

Later

On the list.

LaterSend a gift, no address needed

Pick something from their wishlist. They choose where it ships.

LaterMeme, GIF and short video wishes

Because sometimes a 6 second video says it better.

LaterAgent-drafted thank-yous

After your birthday, your agent drafts the thank-you notes. You hit send.
